25-Or-Under Kiwi Team

Don't forget that Melbourne Storm had Kenny before they had Jesse.

Smacking me in the face as I enjoy my weekly dose of prescribed NRL footy is the plethora of kiwis doing their thing. I'm close to the action so it's impossible for me to miss, I share my knowledge with y'all and y'all are able to witness it yourselves as well. We all know that the kiwi takeover is going down and that it is only reaching greater heights, this was the main thought I had as the representative weekend wound down on Sunday evening.

The Kiwis did roll out what was effectively a 'B' team and the Junior Kiwis featured many names that have yet to hit the radar, but instead of trying to write some long-winded essay that aimed to convince people that kiwi rugby league is in a great position, I decided to come up with a 25-And-Under team of kiwi jokers.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck: The Young Great himself. Breaking records with ease, fantastic footwork and a pair of hands that are highly slept on.

22 years, Otahuhu College.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak: Finally made his Kiwis debut and a thoroughly deserved debut at that. Big enough to make great metres and light-footed. Will be a Kiwis winger for a long time.

20 years, Patrician Brothers Blacktown.

Peta Hiku: 70 NRL games into his career, Hiku already feels like a veteran.

22 years, James Cook High School.

Jordan Kahu: You can't help but notice the aura of class with everything Kahu does. Capable of playing centre, wing and fullback, Kahu is a youngster who has enjoyed his time under Wayne Bennett which has to count for something.

25 years, Keebra Park High School.

David Fusitua: The Fus was a standout for Tonga in the Pacific Test at fullback, he was however apparently born in Auckland so he's just as eligible for the Kiwis. I had to include Fusitua in here somewhere as he's currently my favourite player and the metres gained by he and Watene-Zelezniak off the wings, plus Mr 200m himself (Tuivasa-Sheck) would be crazy.

21 years, Kelston Boys High School.

Te Maire Martin: A bit of a prodigy who slotted into NRL footy with ease, playing a star hand on debut. We haven't seen anything close to what Martin is capable of just yet as he just ran the footy for the Panthers before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. Soon this Penrith team will be Martin's and I can't wait for that day.

20 years, Keebra Park High School.

Shaun Johnson: Already a Kiwi, still a long way to go and plenty for SJ7 to learn.

25 years, Orewa College.

James Fisher-Harris: Like Martin, Fisher-Harris has seamlessly adjusted to NRL footy and consistently kicks it with the NRL's most rugged forwards. He's enjoyed plenty of opportunities thanks to new coach Anthony Griffin who loves to bring young players through and if he stays healthy, expect Fisher-Harris to be a familiar name soon enough.

20 years, Whangarei Boys High School.

Manaia Cherrington: The best all-round hooker of a stacked group of young kiwi hookers is Cherrington, it's just that he's struggled to find much game time behind Robbie Farah. Danny Levi got the nod to be part of an extended Kiwis squad, largely thanks to his consistent presence in the Knights' NRL team but I prefer Cherrington.

21 years, ?

Ava Seumanufagai: There hasn't been a more consistent young kiwi prop in the NRL than Seumanufagai, who rarely gets the credit he deserves. Seumanufagai has stepped up immensely in the absence of Aaron Woods and the Wainuiomata Lions junior has become a near-certain selection each week.

24 years, St Pats Silverstream.

Kenny Bromwich: Don't let his Kiwis debut in which he came off the bench to play dummy half fool you, the younger Bromwich can play. Usually rolled out as a rugged middle or edge forward, Kenny has similar footwork to Jesse and is starting to enjoy steady NRL minutes.

24 years, Hallam Senior College.

Tohu Harris: Watch Harris in the NRL each week and be amazed.

24 years, Hastings Boys High School.

Jason Taumalolo: Anyone got a really cool nickname for Taumalolo ... 'The Beast' is taken ...

22 years, De La Salle College/Kirwan State High School

Bench

Kodi Nikorima: Lacking the all-round-hooker skills of Cherrington (or Levi), Nikorima is one of the best x-factor hookers coming off the bench in the NRL.

22 years, Wavell State High School.

Nelson Asofa-Solomona: Huge and far too athletic, more athletic than any bloke his size should be. NAS started the year slowly and there was noise of a possible return to rugby union, however he has enjoyed a more prominent role with the Storm recently coming off the bench to add plenty of impact.

20 years, Wellington College.

Sio Siua Taukeiaho: Ever since joining the Roosters (from the Warriors) Taukeiaho has become one of the NRL's most dynamic forwards, one of the hardest blokes to tackle in a league full of them. Ponder a Kiwis team with Taumalolo, Taukeiaho and NAS in it ... ouch.

24 years, Sir Edmund Hillary College

Josh Aloiai: Another Tiger and a young player who has crept into the NRL under the mainstream media's radar. Aloiai ticks all the boxes as an NRL forward his progression this season is kinda identical to that of Fisher-Harris as Aloiai made his debut early in the season and has since seen his minutes and usage slowly increase.

20 years, Kelston Boys High School.
