Brisbane Broncos

Despite saying ka kite to Stephen Kearney, Brisbane still have one of the more solid #KiwiNRL contingents in the NRL. Kearney was effectively replaced by Benji Marshall and Marshall is definitely the funkiest kiwi at the Broncos as well simply don't know where Marshall fits into this squad and how Wayne Bennett will use the silky half.

Don't expect Marshall to slot into the halves though as Anthony Milford and Ben Hunt run the show, while noise about Marshall playing centre is a bit weird.

The time has come for Jordan Kahu to be given a decent crack at centre (with James Roberts on the other edge) after he's given the Broncos great service, chopping between centre and wing. Kahu is a far better centre than Marshall will ever be.

Even the bench utility spot doesn't make a whole lot of sense as that's where Kodi Nikorima will be looking to re-establish himself. When the Broncos made the 2015 Grand Final against the Cowboys, Nikorima was crucial in coming off the bench to add some razzle dazzle around the ruck and it's no coincidence that as Nikorima covered other positions and then got injured himself, the Broncos lacked that some spark in giving Andrew McCullough a break.

Adam Blair will do his standard gritty work through the middle, possibly taking on greater responsibility with the retirement of Corey Parker and departure of Jarrod Wallace. Don't expect Blair to start at lock though, Josh McGuire and Jai Arrow will take that spot, which will open up more minutes for Blair at prop.

Just as Kahu and Nikorima did a fine job in filling any hole required of them, Alex Glenn spent the season covering a bunch of different positions. Matt Gillett and Sam Thaiday start on the edges in a full-strength Broncos team, meaning Glenn has to play second-fiddle and last season this saw him add some power to the Broncos' middle off the bench. Expect Glenn to own a bench spot and along with Nikorima's bench spot, these lads will be extremely valuable in a long season.

A cheeky alternative could be that Thaiday shifts to the middle, opening up and edge spot for Glenn.

Herman Ese'ese is also on the Broncos roster and while he'll struggle to get consistent game time, his niche could be in adding a more robust middle presence off the bench. The Broncos have more of a workhorse nature through the middle and need a dose of power, which Ese'ese could offer.

Benji Marshall's Broncos future is unknown, so that's exciting.

Jordan Kahu is steadily showing more and more class, he needs to settle in one position this season though.

Kodi Nikorima will be frothing to get back to his best after the footy gods frowned on him last season.

Adam Blair will keep on truckin'.

Alex Glenn will also keep truckin' whether that's on the edge or through the middle.

Herman Ese'ese just wants a crack and consistent minutes.
