Sunday Night Poetry - Walking

Walking, we never do enough

Too caught up driving, missing the human touch

Flipping the bird, road rage, acting tough

I'd rather smile and nod, happy without no clutch

You're watching trees zoom past

Instead of letting your mind wander and wonder

Take it a step at a time and you'd have a blast

A step at a time, there's plenty to ponder

The fastlane is no place for me

Taking it slow, pounding the pavement

Like you, I've got things to do, places to be

Comfortable with myself, while you use your car as a statement

Take a moment, take a walk, or a hike

Maybe then you will find appreciation

In all the small things that grace your sight

While using your feet as transportation

Obesity isn't an issue, you're just lazy

Insecure, so you by an SUV

Eat from the land, clear your mind and bend your knees

Insecure, you're no better than me

You can make someone's day, by merely smiling their way

But you got angry when someone switched lanes

On the road, your lane is my lane

It's the game we play

You forgot how to say hello to strangers

You forgot how to clear your mind

You forgot about what really matters

You forgot about the joys of walking
