A year and a half ago I wrote a thing recommending a bunch of movies I’d watched and enjoyed during the OG national lockdown and lately I’ve been burning through a movie most nights. So I figured, damn, might as well make like the movie industry itself and dish up a sequel.
These are just ten books that I love, ten favourites in no particular order, ten books that have influenced me greatly in one way or another. Books that I hope you can get something out of as well.
These last few weeks have provided a unique opportunity to absolutely binge on the wonders of cinema, to watch a bunch of those movies you always wanted to but never quite got around to before. Here are a few of the gems that El Wildcardo’s indulged in during levels three and four.
It didn’t take long for Joker to take on a life far beyond the big screen. After opening to rapturous praise at the Venice International Film Festival, where it won the top prize, it pretty soon became a bit of an internet punching bag.
From hefty yarns and scary surprises in the Dragon Pit to some sibling bonding and even a little impending doom. Must've been that Season Seven finale.
EvilCoop strolls up to the convenience store – as in: the convenience store, the one from the atomic flashbacks – and demands to see Phillip Jeffries. A Woodsman takes him in, another takes him to Jeffries...
The North of the Wall Olympics, some high stakes sibling rivalries, plenty of stuff with dragons and what not... there's only one more ep this season!
Two episodes left in the season and the boys are marching north, all the way north. Meanwhile Cersei's spilling secrets and Littlefinger's up to his old tricks. Plus there's also an old mate returns who knows how to handle a pair of oars and a hammer.
Dragon fire, a lost dagger, scorched soldiers, old enemies, reunited families, secret plotting, debts paid, scorpions fired, battles won, grain lost... and that's not even the half of it.
Jon met Dany and traded titles, Cersei made a few power plays, Olenna got the last laugh... but 'what did the Doc and WC think of the episode?' is the real question.
King's Landing or Winterfell. Bend the knee or raise a middle finger. Brown the butter or save time cooking. Save your sister or jump overboard. Plenty of choices in this one so luckily WC and the Doc are here to spill wisdom on the latest slice of Thronery.
One of the most brilliant things about this show is how one character can tell another character that he had a dream the cut on his face had healed and then pull the plaster off the dude’s face and you’re not even surprised to find out that it had.
Ah yes, the plethoric British accents, the freezing landscapes, the opening credits that are way too long… must be that new season of Game of Thrones we’ve been hearing so much about.
It’s a commonly held belief that the second season of Twin Peaks, compared to the first season, is kinda trash.
