Mourinho's Notebook - Bad Tats, Cantona Porn & Vote Balotelli

#VoteBalotelli

The footballing community, much like any nation or organisation, works best when its citizens unite to do their democratic duty. Well, footy fans, your voice must be heard.

Liverpool FC have opened up their Player of the Year award to the public and we can only urge you to follow in the patriotic paths of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United fans who have used the opportunity to reward the efforts of Mario Balotelli.

Upwards and onwards, good people! VOTE HERE

Bellerin Schmellerin

They reckon Hector Bellerin, Arsenal fullback, is pretty fast. The word is that he’s so quick he broke Theo Walcott’s club record for the 40m dash, covering the yardage in 4.42 secs – which is apparently faster than Usain Bolt managed the feat in his world record 100m run.

British Olympic Richard Kilty did not take kindly to the reports. The European 60m sprint champ is so incensed by the notion that the dude could run that fast that he’s ready to lay a large wager on himself proving it wrong, mano a mano.

Tattoo You

Upon taking a little tumble in the Champions League quarter final against Real Madrid, Atletico forward Mario Mandzukic seemed to flash somewhat of a tramp stamp to the camera.

Location of the new ink aside, folks immediately wished to know what it said. Well, here’ the truth. First of all, it’s written in Hebrew, except that Hebrew reads right to left and this was written in the western format of left to right. So the letters are all backwards. Apparently this was a trick that Leonardo Da Vinci liked to do, writing the wrong way so that the message would reveal itself when held to a mirror. This is either some kind of tacky faux-artsy homage or the tattooist was on acid at the time. Let’s go with the former, because it seems really hard to accidentally write backwards, though we won’t rule out the latter.

As for the translation, here’s Stuart Winer of The Times of Israel:

“Once the bizarre lettering had been sorted out, it emerged that the tattoo aimed to proclaim "What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger," although spelling errors rendered the actual translation closer to the grammatically awkward "Which doesn’t to kill me, makes me stronger.”

D’oh.

All That’s Wrong With FIFA

As lobbying speeds up before the new FIFA presidential elections (held May 30 in Zurich), the ridiculous Sepp Blatter PR campaign is firmly underway.

And it’s gonna be tough for anyone to top Osiris Guzman, president of the Dominican Republic FA, who likened Mr Blatter to a number of iconic historical figures, such as… wait for it… Nelson Mandela, Moses, Martin Luther King Jr, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln… and Jesus Christ. Somebody actually said this. About Sepp Blatter.

Perhaps now is the time to mention that Guzman was suspended for 30 days in 2011 as a part of the cash for votes scandal from the last FIFA presidential elections.

Ooh Aah Cantona

The French legend’s been at it this week, saying all sorts of weird and wonderful things, let’s let the man speak for himself.

“Porn? No, it’s not porn. It’s a piece of art. It’s just a piece of art. But you can see it like this. It’s beautiful. You should see it. Unfortunately, porn is not so aesthetic and so beautiful. But love is sex also, you know?” – Speaking about his new film ‘You and the Night’

“Catalonia won the World Cup. Spain won it with 10 Barcelona players in the team. Spain did not win the World Cup, Catalonia did. Barcelona won it.”

“For me, the best player in the world is Javier Pastore. I watched two PSG games just to see him play. For me, he is the most creative player at the moment. Pastore is full of surprises. I love this kind of player.”

"The best league is the Premier League. Then comes the Bundesliga. Next it's Barcelona. Just Barcelona."

"I've done things I am proud about and I have done some bad things that I do not regret because it's just my life. If you are happy then good, and if you are not, I don't care. Nobody will teach me how to behave."

David Luiz's mum on instagram (seriously):

I have a son and I always will! His head held high, with a ball at his feet. God knows everything! Jesus is fighting for us until this day and yet we still have people who judge! Who are we to judge you! I will always love you after the good games, and even more after those that don't go well! 👏👏👏👏👏😘😘😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️
