Black Caps Black Book ... /Diary - October 26
2-0.
Totally outclassed in both games so far by a very good South African side. A very good South African side who should be the favourites for the World Cup, honestly, who's close to them in world cricket at the moment? Australia, maybe but South Africa have 3 of the world's best batsmen and 3 of the world's best bowlers so....
But New Zealand, the Black Caps. Not quite as sharp in the field as we expect of our lads, but that can only improve - I can't see the Black Caps fielding worsening because they hold pretty lofty standards.
Good to see Tim Southee and Trent Boult opening with the new ball. They are both swing and seam bowlers so they should get the fresh nut and if you know that big ol' Mitch is coming in first drop, the pressure won't ease up. McClenaghan's definitely earned the right to be a part of the attack and his control along with that 'heavy ball' thing makes him a great first drop bowler.
I'm a little bit worried, don't take this too seriously as we're only 2 games in but I'd keep an eye on the form of Jimmy Neesham and Corey Anderson. I'm all for having them both in the side but if they both aren't performing too well then crikey. If one is and one isn't, that's ok. If they're both struggling for form then the debate of having them instead of a specialist bowler or batsmen will begin. Show da faith tho.
Daniel Vettori, good, great, classic Danny V. Flight, dip, bit'a turn and tight lines.
But no wickets. 0/42 and 0/43.
The question for cricketing folk is - Do you want wickets or control and a nice Runs Per Over?
Batting? The only person who deserves mention is Luke Ronchi. Big ups to Mr Ronchi, he's in a battle for a starting spot and he's handling the business yo. He's the only one showing the goods so hi 5's to you.
2-0 but it's ok, I like watching this group of lads from South Africa play cricket.
HaShTaAG LiFe - #Hash - You're the man, you hit the ball so freakishly hard with the least effort, all round the park, you're the batsmen we all wish we were.
