Diary Of A Warriors Fan - A Period Of Excellence

Dear old Eric Watson,  he's come up with another gem that hold some merits, some. He's come out and told the world, and Kieran Foran that the Warriors are heading towards a period of excellence. That's pretty awesome huh!?

It's understandable as well especially with the appointment of Jim Doyle who did a fantastic job with New Zealand Rugby League and then did a good enough job in a brief stint with the NRL. We'll have to wait and see to see the fruits of Doyle's labour, but it's encouraging.

As well as naming Doyle as a key man in this period of excellence idea, Watson name dropped coach Andrew McFadden. That's fair enough, McFadden is a fresh coach who has his NRL coaching future ahead of him but excellence? The way the Warriors folded late this season, does not resemble anything close to excellence.

You have read in the Monday Crumbs from the Mystery Doc, the extent to which the Roosters have gone to support Trent Robinson as they chase excellence. A plethora of support staff, multiple physios and Anthony Minichello who does everything from have a coffee with players to educating the fullbacks on the importance of communication. I mean England's coach is Steve McNamara ... who is an assistant at the Roosters. Look at the Rabbitohs who are pushing the boundary with technology and have flown to the United States to take part in high altitude training or the Eels who journeyed to the States to experience first hand how the Seattle Seahawks go about their business.

That's just the pursuit of excellence and you're talking about a period of excellence? You're going to have to show Kieran Foran a bit more than a fat cash stack to get him to the Warriors ... maybe some brains? Some balls? Some innovation? Because all the other NRL teams are doing that, as well as chasing Foran's signature.
