The Other Warriors: Round 3
The NSW Warriors had their first bye on the weekend. This weekend they take on the West Tigers NSW Cup team as part of the triple header in Wellington.
Junior Warriors set the trend in Townsville
As for the Junior Warriors, they joined their NRL counterparts with their first win of the season also. The Juniors notched up an impressive half century against the Junior Cowboys on Saturday winning by 50-12.
What a difference experienced players can make. Tui Lolohea and David Fusitua returned to the Junior Warriors this week with NSW Cup games under their belt as well as an NRL debut for Fusitua. The two secured a hat-trick each while co-captain this week Mason Lino bagged 22 points in total from seven conversions and two tries. The only other point scorer for the match was the winger on the other side Metia Lisati.
The Warriors did not start the game confidently, conceding the first try ilke they have over the past few weeks. However, it wasn't long before their key experienced players stood up and steered the juniors in the right direction pushing them out to a 22 - 6 lead.
One area of concern remains the pre and post halftime slump the Junior Warriors fall into. This week it only cost them one try just before halftime cutting their lead to just 10 points, 22 - 12.
The Junior Warriors stars turned it on again in the second half with Lolohea and Fusitua wrapping up their hat-tricks in the space of a few minutes.
This week they return home to take on the Junior Wests Tigers as part of the triple header at Westpac Stadium in Wellington. The Tigers have won their last two in a row and are sitting 5th on the Under 20's ladder.
