A Week In Hip Hop

Gotta kick of this week's hip hop love fest with a yarn about the Shady cypher. Eminem is serving us up with a variety of dishes to stay relevant and keep the music flowin, headed by the upcoming Shady Records project. They opt for the no beat stylez and it works, highlighting the wizardry of all the rappers involved, it's immaculately shot, like the locations, the scenery, the camera work is top shelf and so are the rhymes. You know Slaughterhouse are going to bring heat, they're probably the best word players in the game at this point. No one really fucks with Joel Ortiz, Crooked I, Joe Budden or Royce. Eminem is back to his best in the cypher, there was a point recently where you had no idea what he was saying which isn't a shot at him but he's just at that level. In the cypher he's witty, he's slick and he can build suspense and urgency simply by the use of his voice. If you want to sit in awe, give it a watch.

A few people hated on Yellawolf, but I liked his wee bit. In fact his bit inspired my to jizz my undies about how it was all filmed. I don't really listen to Yellawolf but he's cool and his part is the reason why this cypher and Shady Records are in a good place. The all offer something different which irks some people because they want everyone to sound like Eminem or Crooked. Nah, they all come with their own little vibe and spit fire. It's hip hop.

Big K.R.I.T's new album Cadillactica is out and I'm pretty amped to write some words about it. It's been in the works for a while now and if ya'll like some Southern drawl, hot bars and a wee bit of a brain then you should be excited as well.

A$AP Mob are also getting me a wee bit excited with their upcoming menu. Ferg's been doing the rounds jumping on tracks and releasing a few of his own joints which points to him releasing an album soon. That plus any sort of Mob project which has been penciled in for a while sounds like the goods. A$AP hit hard from the jump releasing projects left, right and centre so they've been keeping us hungry.

Waka Flocka, can I be your blunt roller? I can't roll blunts right at this minute but I'm willing to learn.

How awesome is this!? Lil Jon stops by, granted it's a terrible motivational speech but if your team's song is 'Turn Down For What' and Lil Jon stops by, you've made it.

Lastly I wanna give some props to YG who is going to be making a wee short film with a soundtrack to match. This is why I love the current state of hip hop as it shows how creative folks can get besides just releasing songs. Who knows how good the short film will be but big up big up to YG for doing something a bit different and hella funky.
