The Other Warriors

NSW Cup Warriors can't make it four in a row

The NSW Cup Warriors played away from the NRL side on the weekend. They took on the second to last placed Bulldogs in Sydney, and were shocked in a 28 nil shut out to the Bulldogs.

After coming off a win over the Knights last week that saw the Warriors string together three straight victories, there was a chance of a making it into the top four with a win in Sydney. However, that would not be the case.

The Warriors did not have the services of regulars Tui Lolohea and Charlie Gubb who had travelled with the top side to Perth as well as injured prop Nathaniel Peteru. Aside from this the game favored the Bulldogs through penalties (8-3) as well as possession and territory.

Big Lloyd Perrett, brother of Sam

The first half was close as only one try was scored by Bulldogs prop Lloyd Perrett however the possession and penalty county for the Bulldogs would take its toll on the Warriors eventually surrendering 22 more points before the final siren.

There isn't much else to say about the Warriors but lets hope they put on a better performance for the Gisbourne locals when they take on the Sharks this weekend. It will be the first time a NSW Cup game has been played there.

The Junior Warriors go down by two

The Junior Warriors also played in Sydney taking on the Junior Rabbitohs at Redfern Oval. Also on a three streak of wins like the NSW Warriors the Juniors had their hopes of four straight broken on the weekend. Eventually going down 26 - 28, the Juniors should have never have let it get to that point.

The Warriors took the early lead like they often do, going out to a 16 nil lead early in the first half. However, the cruel pre and post-halftime slump proved too costly this time around for the Warriors.

The Warriors surrendered three tries to the Rabbits just before half time and when play resumed the Rabbits continued to pile points on. It took until the final ten minutes of the game and after trailing 28 - 16 for the Warriors to final kick back into gear.

As the saying goes though, it proved too little too late despite captain Mason Lino having a chance to snatch a draw with a sideline conversion. The task was too much even for Lino to complete, but it should have never gotten to the stage where they relied on a last minute conversion to draw the game.

Aside from the loss, Lino managed to reach the 100 point mark for the season, making it his third season scoring over 100 points and taking his total tally to 393.

The Warriors have a bye this weekend, so hopefully they can work on removing the mid game lapses they have been prone to this season.
