The Panel
Standout Performer
Chief Biggums - Johnathan Thurston was back to his mercurial playmaking self leading the Cowboys to their first away win of the season over the Sharks. Notched up 20 points from tries and conversions and did all the little things right like JT does.
Mystery Doctor - Ben Hunt showed why the Broncos should keep him instead of chasing DCE.
Senor Spectre - Daly Cherry Evans was great for the Eagles but I loved Sam Thaiday's work for the Broncos! Such a trooper.
Battler Making His Mark
Chief Biggums - Dave Taylor - playing in the centres made a difference, not sure if it would be a long term thing but he ran harder than he ever has playing for Titans in the forwards. I mean he made over 200 metres playing in the backs as well as scoring a try and setting up one.
Mystery Doctor - Keith Galloway deserves some props, he holds down the Tigers as the elder statesman of their pack.
Senor Spectre - Steve Matai for me. A true battler. Once again got injured during the game and the Sea Eagles struggled without him. When he came back on they got back to their best.
Young Gun Watch
Chief Biggums - Alex Johnston - apparently he played G.I. as a kid a in tv ad when he is younger, now look at him. Big, strong and fast like his Souths teammate, definitely a good prospect scoring another two tries against the Eels.
Mystery Doctor - Dale Copley, who else!? This guy made a few Warriors defenders look pretty dumb.
Senor Spectre - Luke Keary came on as a sub and turned the game for the Rabbits. Looks the goods for such a young man.
Biggest thing you learnt
Chief Biggums - How close the ladder is. I mean only 6 points, 3 wins separating the entire top 8. So the importance of points differential will become so much more noticeable in the final rounds.
Mystery Doctor - It's crunch time. There's only a few weeks left and the games get more and more important especially with teams so close on the table. Consistency people, consistency.
Senor Spectre - Rabbits are looking a bit shaky but the Eagles go from strength to strength!
Best team performance
Chief Biggums - Wests Tigers - if they can figure out a way to hold onto all these Tiger youngsters, another premiership for the club is in the picture. The young guns tore holes through the big Bulldogs defense over the weekend. Even the stats 7 line breaks to 4, 23 offloads to 12, 1687 run meters to 1038.
Mystery Doctor - Hard to argue with the Tigers who simply turned it on. Plenty of fire power right thur.
Senor Spectre - The Tigers turned heads with a huge win, but I was mightily impressed by the Broncos against the Warriors. They started slow but man it was a finals like display from them late on as they took the 2 points.
Needs A Hug
Chief Biggums - Newcastle Knights, well they didn't win their rise for Alex game, despite trying their hardest and their coach is leaving at the end of year.
Mystery Doctor - Kurt Gidley. He's gone from an NSW Mr Fix it, to well nothing really.
Senor Spectre - The Knights. Put in such an average showing on the biggest day for the club in years. Unbelievable.
